Robert Podolnjak’s main areas of research are comparative constitutional law, constitutional law of the USA and the European Union, comparative political systems, federalism, direct democracy and electoral law.
He is the author of several monographs (in Croatian): “Federalism and Republicanism: The Creation of the American Constitution” (2004), “Direct Election of Mayors and County Governors: European Experiences and Croatian Challenge” (2005), “Mayor and Council: The New Institutional Framework of Croatian Local Government in Comparative Perspective” (2010) and “Presidential Elections and American Democracy: Creation and Evolution of the Electoral College”, (2021) and co-editor of the monograph “Citizen Initiated Referendum in Croatia and Slovenia” (2014).
He has also published a number of articles in Croatian and foreign scientific books and journals.
Robert Podolnjak was member of the Croatian Parliament from 2015-2020.
