Julian Clarenne dedicates most of his research to the study of Parliament and representative democracy from a political law approach. He has also been working on mechanisms of citizen participation in political deliberation and their institutionalization through law.

He is the author of the book Délibérer au Parlement. Le droit parlementaire, instrument du renouveau de la démocratie représentative ?, Brussels, Larcier, 2024, 916 p., based on a doctoral thesis directed by Professor Mathias El Berhoumi.
